‘NO CREATIVE BONES’ PAINTING WORKSHOPS
Think you haven’t got a creative bone in your body? Balderdash! Most people who come to my workshops think the same - but guess what? They all go home with paintings made by their own fair hands! These 2 hour long workshops are designed to be accessible to everyone, whether you did an art degree 50 years ago and just want to get going again or you’ve never touched a tube of paint in your life. I want people to be able to enjoy using paint without expectation or judgement. It’s all about the experience, not the result. Scroll to the bottom to see what people think!
We work on pieces of A2 paper with acrylic paints (plenty of colours) and lots of different mark-making implements (ranging from the traditional brush to the far less traditional kitchen whisk!) - bubble wrap, squeegees, rollers, forks, credit cards are some of the other items in my arsenal. And basically we just lose ourselves in adding colours, making marks, trying things out without worrying about the outcome while drinking copious cups of tea or coffee and chatting or not chatting, however the mood takes us. We do one piece and then tape a second piece into four sections and do the same again, except when we take off the tape we’re left with clean white lines creating 4 smaller paintings and the result is very, very satisfying!
You don’t have to worry about what you’re going to paint before you come. It’s all about going with the flow and just having fun! All materials are provided and you can take your work home at the end.
Sessions are held in my home studio in the NG5 area of Nottingham. It’s a third floor flat with lift access. There is parking around the building and it’s easy to access by bus too.
