An ambiguous structure (to my mind it’s a box) which contains unknown and intangible elements and which the figure is tentatively considering opening. Maybe the person is slightly wary of releasing something uncomfortable or unpleasant. That’s my interpretation, at least.

In just the same way that you do, I interpret my paintings. Because I don’t start with an idea, it’s mostly from the subconscious, I’m rarely certain of what they’re about and sometimes they only make sense when I talk to someone about them.

Acrylic and image transfer (the tree detail) on 40cm x 40cm wooden panel, framed in a wooden tray frame. Overall size is 44cm x 44cm. Varnished with gloss varnish and fitted with cord for hanging.
